I'm a Bristol-based producer, composer and sound designer.
I picked up guitar as a kid and never really put it down. At university that turned into session guitar and co-writing in a band called FEY, an old body of work that didn't go on to do much, but it's where I learned how a song actually gets built. From there I moved into production and sound design full time: original music and composition, sound design for visual and commercial briefs, fashion films, brand work, the odd sync placement, and audio production for other people's podcasts, run under my own name as Trelawny Production.
I also teach sailing, and one of those podcast projects came out of it. I met a famine researcher during an afterschool session on the water, which turned into a month in Kenya and, eventually, Bitter Harvest, a documentary series on famine, land rights and food sovereignty that's kept me busy for well over a year. Still in production, coming soon.
Music still comes first though. I make music as IMBER: indie rock, alt-pop and folk that draws on the landscapes of Devon, Cornwall and Bristol. IMBER's debut single, "Fall Over," was BBC Introducing's Track of the Week, reached No.7 on Amazing Radio, and was later selected for Vinyl Moon's Vol. 64: Odd Party compilation, with a run of live performances on BBC Introducing's stages and plays on BBC Radio Bristol. I've also released a solo EP, Forwards, written and recorded in March 2022: the idea was to capture a moment rather than polish one, so a lot of it was recorded as it was being written.
My music's also placed through Sentric's Jukebox network, used as background music in shops, hotels and gyms across the UK and Europe, popular enough to get Shazamed regularly. I've written sync briefs for brands like Helinox through Kitsuné Musique too, not all of which make it to air, but the work's real either way. A few moments from along the way are below.
